Baldivis Road is the first major road in Baldivis to be upgraded.
The reason this road is the first is because the majority of housing and commercial development has been completed in this area and now that there are less large heavy haulage vehicles using this road the timing is right to complete the upgrades and to incorporate some requested features.
There were three stages –
Stage One – Between Clyde Avenue and Heritage Park Drive
Stage Two – Heritage Park Drive and Safety Bay Road
Stage Three – Heritage Park Drive to Karnup Road.
Stage One is nearly fully complete. However Baldivis Road (between Makybe Drive and Highbury Boulevard) will be closed to traffic from Monday 9 January to Friday 13 January to allow contractors to install a faux-brick treatment on the median island.
The closure will only be in place during work hours (approximately 8am to 4pm) and the road will be re-opened at the completion of each day’s work. Below is a detour map.
Stage Two will commence in approximately April of 2017. This section will also feature an extra left turning lane from Rivergums Boulevard, there will be a ‘seagull’ style intersection on Stillwater drive to address the illegal u-turning point at that area, safer pedestrian crossing points and also a footpath linking the area to safety bay road. Below is an example of a seagull style intersection to assist with traffic flow.
Stage Three has been cancelled at this stage due to the overall cost and will be re-visited at a future date.
